When the check engine light comes on halfway up the canyon, this is the counter that will read the code for free. The NAPA store on South St. Vrain, close to Avant Garde Aleworks and La Cocina De Mama, also fits new batteries, wiper blades and headlight bulbs at no charge, and will chase down hard-to-find parts.
The other half of the store is ranch supply. Alfalfa and timothy hay, grains, chicken and pig feed, wood shavings, and heating and smoker pellets all come through here, which makes it the stop for anyone keeping horses or chickens in the valley or feeding a pellet stove through winter.
Propane bottles get filled or swapped on site, and the shop builds custom hydraulic hoses for the equipment that blew one at the worst moment. It is family-operated and usually a quick in and out, and worth a call before driving down to the Front Range for a part.
