Dannels Fire Station

About

The Dannels Fire Station is Station 1 on North St. Vrain Avenue, home base for the Estes Valley Fire Protection District. It's named for a longtime firefighter and mayor. You're not visiting it, but it's good to know where it is.

The station is at 901 N. St. Vrain Avenue. It was built in 1996 and is also called Station 71 in the district's numbering. It's named for Bernie Dannels, who served with the Estes Park Volunteer Fire Department from 1960 to 1981 and later served as mayor. The district's headquarters uses the same address, and the district's non-emergency line is 970-577-0900. In an emergency, call 911, not the station.

This isn't a tourist attraction, so don't drop in for a tour. If you have a question, call the non-emergency number. What I'd pass along is this. Fire danger up here is real, and the district posts current restrictions and danger levels on its website. Look before you build a campfire or light a grill, and don't rely on what was true last week. When the trucks go by with lights on, pull over and give them room. It's a small town, and they'd rather you got out of the way than watched.
