About

The elk burger is the order that keeps coming up at The Hive, the restaurant attached to Estes Park Brewery on Prospect Village Drive, half a mile up from downtown. Close behind are the bison bolognese, the fish and chips and a basket of fried green beans, and the altitude burger and bison short ribs have their own following. The beer is the brewery's own, so a flight is the sensible way in: raspberry, honey and blueberry wheats, The Shining, Redrum, a stout, a porter and a pilsner.

Kind staff is what people remember most, often with live music going in the background. It takes reservations, which helps on a July evening, and the kitchen runs 11 to 9:30 every day. Dogs can sit on the patio, there's a kids' menu, and prices stay on the low side for town.
