About

The Stanley Chocolate Factory took over a restored former church on West Elkhorn, next to the Danish Cone Factory and Steamers Cafe, and the main event is making a candy bar. After a walk through the history of chocolate, visitors step into a temperature-controlled kitchen with a master chocolatier and build their own bar, choosing what goes in it.

A toy train carries the finished bars out to the shop floor, where antique fixtures hold handmade chocolates, figurines and candies. The hot chocolate has its own following. Chocolate tours run through the building, and plenty of people leave with their own bar plus a box of artisan chocolates. It makes a solid rainy-afternoon plan downtown.
