Down in the Big Thompson Canyon near Drake, almost eight miles from downtown on the drive to the Front Range, this is a scenic stop on the river. People pull over for the view and to fish, and it is easy with kids, which makes it a good leg-stretch on the way into or out of town. Big Thompson River Falls is close by if you want a second stop.
