Next to Ed's Cantina on East Elkhorn, Sticks-N-Stones fills a shop with handcrafted rustic wood furniture for every room, the bathroom included. Bedroom, dining and living room pieces share the floor with lighting, vases, wine accessories and outdoor furniture.
Chris and Val Jafferis have been making and selling furniture for more than 30 years, and a second location, a gallery on Moraine Avenue, shows more of it. Pieces can be built to order, and the craftsmen will come out and design a whole room. Everything is handmade and leans rustic-elegant rather than log-cabin rough.
Not everyone is shopping for a dining table, though. The wood lamps and smaller pieces are what plenty of visitors end up carrying out, and the staff are friendly to browsers. Furniture ships, which solves the problem of getting a bed frame home in a rental car. Small gifts with some character are easy to find here, too.
