A few doors from Hayley's Ice Cream on Moraine Avenue, The Estes Paw Co sells one thing and sells it well: dog treats and chews made from USA-sourced proteins. The shelves run to bully sticks, ears, steer sticks, tendons and trachea, plus beef, bison and elk antler bones.
The organ treats are what regulars come back for. Beef lung and bison lung are the two that get named most, with shin bones close behind, and heart, liver and tripe fill out the rest. Lamb tripe and lamb lung turn up on the online shelf as well. Single ingredient, nothing fancy, which is the point.
The shop moved into this spot not long ago, a short walk from the Riverwalk, and it's a quick stop. Staff are friendly and happy to talk dogs. Anyone who gets home and wishes they'd bought more can order online, and a wholesale program lets other shops carry the line. Gift cards are sold too.
