Up Eagle Cliff Road, in the old resort neighborhood of Little Valhalla, Carriewood is a cottage built in 2022 and rented whole. Two bedrooms, two baths, a stocked kitchen with granite counters, a table for six, an electric fireplace and a pull-out sofa. The private hot tub is the detail that comes up again and again.
The odd and good part is the Tiny Barn, a historic outbuilding turned rec room that looks out at The Notch. It holds a leather sofa, a TV, a work desk, darts, cornhole, kids' toys and books, a stack of Park maps, sleds, snowshoes and a massage chair. It is not insulated, though, and the space heater won't keep up on a blustery winter day.
The Beaver Meadows entrance is under two miles off, trails inside and outside the Park are within walking distance, and the Estes Park Shuttle serves the neighborhood, so the car can stay put on a summer day. Wildlife passes through the yard often enough to be part of the stay.
