About

Just off Highway 66, along the Big Thompson River and next to The Landing at Estes Park, River Ridge Cottages is a cluster of stand-alone cabins about a mile and a half from the Beaver Meadows entrance. Downtown is two miles back toward town. The season runs mid-May through mid-October, and then the place closes.

Cabins range from a one-room economy unit with a queen bed and a small kitchenette to two-story cabins with two queen bedrooms, a family room and a deck. Centennial Cabin #6 sits right on the river with a private deck and a view of Longs Peak. A shared deck has a first-come grill and 150 feet of riverfront.

Clean, comfortable and small in a warm way is the general verdict, and the riverfront is the part people remember. Two cautions: none of the cabins has air conditioning, and at least one shower head sits low enough to earn a comment.
