Ask for a lake-view room. The hotel sits on the shore of Lake Estes, about a mile and a half from downtown, and the rooms that face the water, some with balconies and fireplaces, are the ones guests talk about afterward. The marina is just down the shore, and there's a gym and sauna.
Ember, the restaurant and bar, is in the same building, and Qi Lounge handles spa treatments. Eating outside by the lake is the summer draw. The Mountain Village cabins next door rent by the night, week or month, and the longer terms work for a stay of a few weeks. In winter the property is quieter and snowshoeing starts close by.
Weddings are a big share of what happens here, with a planning team and catering on site. Some rooms are dated, and in a few the sink sits outside the bathroom, which bothers some travelers more than others. The Stanley Hotel is a short drive away.
