About

Ping pong, foosball, arcade games and a 55-inch TV take up the lower-level game room at Koenig Lodge, and that's before anyone finds the bunk room upstairs. It's a 5,200-square-foot house on Aspen Brook Drive, on the Big Thompson River, half a mile from the YMCA of the Rockies and under two miles from the Beaver Meadows entrance.

The numbers explain who books it: six bedrooms, four and a half baths, two kitchens and three fireplaces. The main floor has a king primary suite with its own fireplace and a great room built around a 12-person dining table. Upstairs are four more bedrooms, one of them a big bunk room. Downstairs adds a bedroom, the second kitchen and a family room with the third fire.

From the lower level you can walk straight out to the river to fish or sit with your feet in the water. For all its size, the house feels warm, and that's what people take home. Longer stays get discounts, which makes a reunion week easier to justify.
