Up in Windcliff Estates, on Jungfrau Trail, the Roosevelt National Forest boundary is less than 300 feet from Snowdrift Lodge, and the Rocky Mountain National Park line is about the same distance. That is the point of the place.

It's one half of a duplex townhouse, once called Garland's Alpine Lodge, with three bedrooms, three and a half baths and room for eight. West windows face the Front Range, and the view is what guests talk about. The fireplace mantel is a single weathered beam salvaged from somewhere older. The kitchen runs on Bosch appliances, with a bar and swivel stools for whoever isn't cooking, and the west deck has a gas grill and seating.

Windcliff Homes handles the rental. Downtown is nearly four miles off and Mary's Lake about a mile and a half, so dinner in town means driving.
