If the cabin sits empty most of the year and you live out of state, someone has to look in on it. Rocky Mountains Property Services does that on a weekly or biweekly round, checking for break-ins, wind and storm damage, fallen trees and burst pipes, and it will meet deliveries or contractors at the door.

The bigger half of the business is vacation rental management: cabins, condos and family homes, with the owner's rental website, guest communication, housekeeping, accounting and sales tax handled, plus the dealings with town and county. It began as a housekeeping and cleaning outfit for rentals and grew into full management because the founders wanted a company that lived in the valley, not an out-of-state franchise. Long-term and month-to-month rentals aren't part of it.

Renee McCauley runs it with her daughter Samantha, who grew up in Estes Park and ran catering and special events at the YMCA. Renee spent more than ten years managing a plumbing and heating company, so she knows most of the handymen and contractors in the valley. The office is on Giant Track Road, about two miles from downtown toward Mary's Lake.
