On 18 acres off Ptarmigan Trail, a little over a mile from Lake Estes, Good Samaritan Society's Estes Park Village offers three kinds of senior housing: assisted living apartments, independent living apartments and independent living twin homes.
The respite program is worth knowing about. Assisted living respite stays run anywhere from three days to 30, with round-the-clock help, so a family caregiver gets a real break and a parent gets to try the place before deciding. Independent living has trial stays on the same idea. On site there is an indoor pool and hot tub, exercise classes and a salon, and independent living is maintenance-free, with activities on the calendar.
The staff and the food are what residents and families mention first, and the residents themselves get credit for being friendly. Tours can be booked through the community, and virtual tours are posted for relatives who live too far away to visit first.
