Up Prospect Village Drive, half a mile from downtown, the town's established microbrewery keeps a sample bar going in the tasting room. The free samples are the first thing most visitors bring up, and they are the right way to start before committing to a full pint. Then pick the one that earned a second taste.
The blueberry beer is the one people remember. Redrum Ale has its own following, and the root beer covers the drivers and the kids at the table. There's a full bar for anyone who came along without caring about beer at all.
Food is pub grub done straight: bison burgers, fried pickles, waffle fries. There are pool tables and mountain views, and every spring the brewery throws a beer festival that is worth planning a trip around if beer is the point of the visit. The Hive at Estes Park Brewery is right next door.
