In fall, when the aspens turn, this drive earns its name. The Peak to Peak Scenic Byway picks up Highway 7 near the Visitor Center and heads south toward Allenspark, winding past small mountain towns, picnic spots and plenty of places to pull over for a photo. The starting point is right beside the Holiday Inn and Latitude 105 Alehouse.
The curves are steep in places, which motorcyclists enjoy and nervous passengers do not. Mountain views and wildlife come with the route, and it is easy with kids, as long as everyone is fine in the car for a while. Summer weekends bring more traffic, so a weekday or an early start keeps it relaxed.
