About
This is the Fall River Visitor Center, the Park's welcome mat on the Highway 34 side. Stop here before you drive in. The rangers will tell you what's actually open today, which beats guessing from a parking lot.
The Fall River Visitor Center sits at the Fall River Entrance on Highway 34, about five miles west of town, and the address is 3450 Fall River Rd. Inside you'll find rangers, a Rocky Mountain Conservancy shop, wildlife exhibits, a short film, restrooms, and water refill stations. There's a passport stamping station if you collect those. A restaurant and a bigger store sit right next door. The center is outside the main road into the Park, so you can pop in before you commit to the drive.
Here's what I tell friends. Ask the ranger what's open and how the roads look, then listen. Trail Ridge and the high stuff change on you, and the people behind the desk know first. Tell them your skill level and how many hours you've got, and they'll aim you better than any app will.
Timed-entry reservations and the entrance pass are a real thing in summer, so check nps.gov/romo before you leave the house. And go early. Midday in July, the parking lot is a puzzle nobody wins.
