Epic Climbing Gym

Out on Big Thompson Avenue, next to Estes Park Mountain Shop, Epic Climbing Gym gives the valley somewhere to climb when weather or the calendar rules out real rock. There is bouldering, a Moonboard for people training on set problems, and a treadwall, the rotating wall that keeps you climbing without ever topping out.

Kids come up a lot, and the staff get credit for being friendly with first-timers and families alike. The building is wheelchair accessible. The gym keeps long hours, which makes it a reliable fallback when an afternoon thunderstorm parks itself over the Park. For a family stuck in town on a wet day, it beats another lap of Elkhorn.
