About

From May into mid-October, weather permitting, an RMNPhotographer guide rides along in your own car into Rocky Mountain National Park and points the phones and cameras at elk, deer, moose and the high country. The vehicle needs one spare seat. Tours start at Coffee on the Rocks on Moraine Avenue.

The guides are why it works. They know the wildlife and the Park's history, they read a group's interests and adjust, and they pass along photography tips as they go. The half-day Mountains to Sky tour climbs Trail Ridge Road; Lake and Meadows, a Bear Lake Road tour and Over the Top are the others, along with a private photography tour that leaves before sunrise.

The company is authorized by the National Park Service, so no timed-entry reservation is needed for the tour. That alone rescues visitors who missed the reservation window. Phones work fine, so a real camera is optional. Gift cards are sold.
