About
A short, steep climb to the grave of Edwin Bradt, an 18 year old who died in a car accident in 1918 and was buried on this hill at his father's request. At the top there's a mailbox with a Bible and a register, and wide views toward the Park.
Bible Point is on the grounds of the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center, outside Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail splits from the Glacier Creek Trail not far from the YMCA livery, then climbs hard. Guides put the round trip anywhere from about 1.5 to 2.5 miles, and the YMCA's own dog hiking page says 2.5 miles with about 600 feet of gain. At the top you'll find the mailbox with a trail log and a Bible, a tradition that gave the spot its name. Edwin died in 1918, and his father asked that he be buried here.
Here's the catch. This is private YMCA property, and I couldn't find a posted policy for day visitors, so call the Estes Park Center at 970-586-3341 before you plan around it. If you're a guest or you've been cleared to go, wear real shoes (it's steep and rocky) and take water. Keep your voice down at the top, since it is a grave. Leave the register and the Bible the way you found them. The YMCA says leashed dogs are welcome on this one.
