About
Glen Haven is the long way up Crosier Mountain. You start behind the stables at the west end of the little town, cross open meadows, then turn onto a steep final half mile to the top. It's the route with the most room to warm up.
The Crosier Mountain Glen Haven trailhead (#931-2) is behind the stables at the west end of the community of Glen Haven, in Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest. The Forest Service says there are no restrooms or potable water. The approach crosses expansive meadows before it meets the steep half mile to the summit, which is around 9,250 feet. The Colorado Mountain Club calls the Glen Haven route moderate, about 8 miles round trip with 2,400 feet of gain.
This is the one I'd pick if you want a gentler start before the climb. Go early and bring plenty of water, since there's none at the trailhead. Colorado Parks and Wildlife issued safety advice after a fatal mountain lion attack on the Crosier Mountain trail in January 2026: stay alert, hike in groups, skip the headphones, and keep dogs leashed. The trail reopened soon after that incident, with warning signs posted, but check the Forest Service page for current alerts. Respect the neighbors in Glen Haven when you park, and keep it quiet around the stables.
