Enger Family Nature Trail

About

The Enger Family Nature Trail is a short, gentle path on the YMCA of the Rockies grounds on the west side of town. It's a place to slow down and look at trees. Not a destination hike, and not a public park, so know the rules before you go.

The trail sits on the Estes Park Center property of YMCA of the Rockies, off Highway 66. The YMCA describes it as an accessible nature trail, and it's listed with the property's hiking trails. I couldn't find a published length or surface description from the YMCA, so call the Estes Park Center before you plan around it.

What trips people up. This is private YMCA land, not Park or town land. The YMCA says non-guests need a day pass for on-property hiking, so contact the Estes Park Center first. Don't just wander in. If you're staying there, it's a lovely easy walk before dinner. If you're not, think about whether a Park or Lake Estes walk fits your day better. Whatever you choose, stay on the trail, keep your voice down around the cabins, and leave the place the way you found it. Ask the YMCA about their pet rules before bringing a dog.
