Costumes are the whole point. At Memories Old Time Portraits on West Elkhorn, staff dress the group from a wardrobe of one-of-a-kind outfits, in sizes from four-month-old babies up to adult 3X, then take about four shots and let the group pick one.

Prints get an antiquing treatment meant to look like nineteenth-century photographs and come on heavyweight archival paper. Digital images are offered too, including on a USB drive. The staff get a lot of credit, especially for helping people choose outfits and pose, and big family and group shots are common and welcome. Photo quality holds up too, which is the point of paying for one instead of taking a selfie.

It stays open into the evening in season, which makes it an easy after-dinner stop on Elkhorn. The studio is next to Mt Everest Gift House and a few doors from Estes Park Distilling Co. The McNamara family of Greeley owns it.
