About

A two-story waterfall runs down an inside wall into a small pond, which looks like a gimmick but does a real job adding moisture to dry mountain air. The rest is built for a crowd: six bedrooms each with its own bath, eight beds for 14 people, log beams, a stone gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Continental Divide.

Up on Eaglecliff Circle in Windcliff Estates, almost four miles out and past Mary's Lake, the backyard runs up against the National Park. Lily Lake, Estes Cone and Teddy's Teeth are hikes from the door. Elk and deer come through often, and the sloped lot is good for sledding in winter.

The kitchen is the other thing people remember, with a gas range, a big island and a long handmade dining table. Add the spread-out living areas, a den with an antique piano and a covered deck over fifty feet long, and the house still feels peaceful with a full crew in it.
