About
Four miles west of downtown and a few minutes from the Fall River entrance, Aspenglen is a Rocky Mountain National Park campground for tents and RVs. Every site gets a picnic table, fire ring and tent pad, and a handful of walk-in tent sites sit away from the parking spurs for more quiet. Flush toilets, drinking water and food lockers are on the grounds, firewood and ice are sold, and the bathrooms stay clean. Rangers are a visible presence, and wildlife wanders through. Dogs are allowed.
Every site is reservation only on Recreation.gov. Some release six months out, others two weeks or one week ahead, so the short windows are worth watching. The reservation doubles as timed entry, Bear Lake Road included. Summer stays inside the Park cap at seven nights total, and the campground runs May through September.
