Nicky's Resort

A mile and a half up Fall River Road, Nicky's is a small riverfront resort with twenty-six pine-paneled rooms and two cabins, and The Wapiti Colorado Pub right next door for dinner. The beds are comfortable and the rooms small and warm.

The cabins are the pick. Each has two bedrooms, a fireplace and the only full kitchens on the property, and select ones take dogs. The river suites have king beds, fireplaces and sliding doors. Prices run gentler than at most riverfront places in town. Linens, towels and cookware are provided.

Check-in is self-service and there's no lobby to speak of. Wildlife wanders through often enough that the resort asks guests to keep their distance. Grills sit in the riverside picnic area along with a wood-burning fire pit, cornhole and a small putt-putt green, plus a seasonal pool, with putters and board games in the shed. Some bathrooms show their age, so ask about recent updates when booking.
