Wood heat is still ordinary in the Estes valley, where winters are long and cold and plenty of homes sit outside town. Chimney work follows the pattern of a lot of trades here: only two of the eight businesses listed are based in the valley, and neither one lists sweeping as its main job.
I have run a wood stove in every small town I have lived in, and the rule never changes: get it swept before you need it. Hire whoever will actually drive up the hill, and ask what the trip adds before the truck leaves Loveland.
Based in Estes Park
One phone number covers a lot of ground at Beyond Services Group: tree removal and trimming, stump grinding, planting, fire mitigation, landscaping, gutter cleanout, yard cleanup and firewood. Trained climbers handle the tree work, and the crew will work with insurers when a claim is involved.
By the first real snow, half the valley is thinking about a better fire. The showroom at Estes Flame Works on Highway 66, out toward the Beaver Meadows entrance at the same address as Ferrellgas, is where to look at the options in person.
Serves Estes Park from the Front Range
Before the first real cold snap is when a chimney should get looked at, and this Boulder sweep makes the trip up to Estes Park, along with Nederland and Louisville. It's an independently owned franchise, licensed and insured.
A balky gas fireplace is the call FyrePro gets most, and its service technicians are known for knowing their stuff. Inspections, glass cleaning leak repairs and electric fireplaces fill out the service side, and the company installs and services everything it sells.
The first fire of the fall is the usual cue to call Fresh Sweeps, a certified chimney sweep based in Loveland that lists Estes Park in its service area. Sweeps inspect and clear soot and creosote from wood fireplaces, gas inserts and pellet stoves, and also clean smoke chambers, install rain caps and chimney fans, and handle dryer vents, air ducts and animal removal.
A gas fireplace that clicks and won't catch is the usual reason people call Gates. The family-owned company works out of Loveland and comes up to Estes Park for gas fireplace and fire pit repair, cleaning, tune-ups and safety inspections on all the major brands.
Fall, before the stove takes its first real load, is the time to book a sweep, and A Clean Sweep comes up from Longmont to do it. The company has nearly 40 years on chimneys and fireplaces, technicians trained through the National Fireplace Institute and the Chimney Safety Institute of America, and Estes Park on its service list.
Before the first fire of the fall is the time to have a flue looked at, and A Clean Sweep comes up from Loveland to do it; Estes Park is on its long Northern Colorado service list. CSIA-certified techs inspect and clean wood-burning chimneys and stove venting, check the brick and the crown, and fit caps to keep weather, debris and animals out.

Six of the eight come up from the Front Range, from Boulder, Loveland and Longmont. Most list Estes Park in their service area, so the real questions are how soon they can get here and whether the drive up is built into the price. Nothing on the listings answers that, so ask when you call.
The work splits three ways. Midtown Chimney Sweeps, Fresh Sweeps and the two A Clean Sweep locations treat sweeping and inspection as the core job. Gates Fireplace Services comes to the house for gas fireplaces and fire pits, covering pilot light and igniter trouble. FyrePro in Loveland and Estes Flame Works in town sell and install stoves and inserts.
Beyond Services Group in Estes Park offers chimney cleaning next to tree, roofing and asphalt work, and it lists free estimates. Two listings, Midtown and Gates, show insurance. If you hire anyone else, ask. Book the sweep before the first hard cold, because a long winter is a poor time to wait for an opening. A Clean Sweep appears twice, with a Longmont base and a Loveland base, so check which office you are calling. Fresh Sweeps takes appointments through an online scheduler, which helps if you would rather not play phone tag.
Of the eight listings, two are based in the valley: Estes Flame Works, a fireplace showroom and installer, and Beyond Services Group, which offers chimney cleaning among its tree and roofing work. Midtown Chimney Sweeps, Fresh Sweeps and A Clean Sweep list sweeping as core work and serve Estes Park from the Front Range.
Gates Fireplace Services, based in Loveland, lists Estes Park in its service area. Technicians come to the house for repairs, cleaning, inspections and tune-ups, including pilot light, igniter, burner and blower problems. It is shown as insured. Call to confirm your brand and a date.
Estes Flame Works has a showroom in Estes Park and installs wood and gas fireplaces, inserts and stoves, with Mendota as the featured brand. FyrePro in Loveland carries wood, gas and pellet stoves and inserts, and installs and services what it sells.
The listings do not say. Free estimates are shown for only one of the eight, Beyond Services Group. With any company based in Boulder, Loveland or Longmont, ask whether the drive is built into the price before you book.
