Four of the 17 electricians listed here keep a shop in the valley. The other 13 start their day in Loveland, Fort Collins or Longmont and drive up, either through the Big Thompson Canyon on US 34 or through Lyons on US 36. For a panel upgrade or a hot tub hookup, that is a scheduling detail. For a dead circuit tonight, it is a different matter.
Electricity is the one trade where I tell people to ask for the license before the quote. Fewer than a quarter of the crews here live in the valley, the rest drive up, and I would rather wait a day than gamble.
Based in Estes Park
A dead outlet, a breaker that keeps tripping, a chandelier that needs hanging. Those are the calls this Estes Park electrician gets credit for, mostly for showing up fast and charging fairly for the work.
Dean's Electric works out of Baldpate Court, a couple of miles from downtown and a little over a mile from the fairgrounds. The listing is bare: no service list and no posted hours.
Residential and commercial wiring both fall to Karst Electric, an electrical contractor on South St. Vrain Avenue next to Third One Barber Shop and Fanciful Floral.
Finding the fault and hanging the fixture are the two things people remember about Peterson Electric. The company is based in Loveland and covers Northern Colorado from Windsor up to Estes Park, with an Estes Park office on Columbine Avenue.
Serves Estes Park from the Front Range
If the furnace quits at two in the morning in January, someone at Lion Home Service will pick up the phone. The company is based in Fort Collins and comes up to Estes Park, and it covers more of the house than most: heating and air, plumbing, water heaters, drains and sewer, septic, electrical and generators, plus duct cleaning and insulation.
When a cabin needs a new panel, a hot tub circuit or a Level 2 charger in the garage, Three Crowns Electric is one of the Loveland outfits that makes the drive up the canyon. The licensed crew covers Northern Colorado and lists Estes Park among its service towns, doing residential and commercial work: panels and service upgrades, repairs, lighting and ceiling fans, EV chargers, standby generators, and hot tub and pool wiring.
If the cabin needs an EV charger, a new panel or a ceiling fan that finally works, Eggers Electric comes up from Loveland, where it is based, and Estes Park is on its service list. The licensed crew takes residential and commercial work: repairs, panel upgrades and replacement, generators, hot tub hookups, outlets and switches, outdoor lighting and power restoration.
Adding a hot tub, a car charger or a ceiling fan to a mountain house is the kind of job this Loveland electrician drives up to Estes for. The service area runs from Longmont to Fort Collins, and Estes Park is on it.
Small jobs are where Eggers Electric earns its name: a ceiling fan, a breaker that keeps tripping, a chandelier that needs hanging. The licensed Fort Collins electricians come up to Estes Park for those as well as the bigger work, including panel upgrades, generator installs, hot tub hookups and EV chargers.
A hot tub needs wiring, an EV charger needs a circuit, the old breaker box needs replacing: those are the jobs this Longmont electrical contractor sees most, and it comes up to Estes from the Front Range. Panel upgrades, LED lighting, ceiling fans and general repairs fill out the residential side, and commercial work includes parking lot lights and tenant finishes.
A standby generator wired in before winter outages, an EV charger in the garage, a panel that can handle both: that is squarely the work of this Loveland electrical contractor. It is licensed and family-owned, has served Northern Colorado for more than 30 years, and lists Generac generators, 240V circuits, whole house fans, smart home setup and remodel wiring for homes and commercial buildings.
Panel upgrades and service changes are the staple work for this licensed electrical contractor out of Fort Collins, and Estes Park is on its list of service areas. Residential calls run to EV charger circuits, generators, surge protection, hot tub wiring and lighting, while commercial jobs cover panels, power distribution and thermal imaging.
Standby generators are the main business at 1st Choice Electrical Service, a Longmont electrician with more than two hundred generator installs behind it. It is a certified Generac and Briggs & Stratton installer, also sets Kohler and Champion units, and wires portable-generator interlocks for people not ready for a full standby system.
A furnace that quits in the middle of a January night is the reason to know this name. Origin is a Loveland-based plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical company, a subsidiary of Fort Collins Heating & Air Conditioning, with four generations behind it and licensed techs on call around the clock.
Over in Nederland, Positive Energy has done electrical contracting across Boulder and Gilpin counties for more than four decades, now under master electrician Jennifer Zynn. It's licensed and insured and handles new construction, remodels, and residential and commercial service.
When a breaker keeps tripping or a remodel needs new circuits, Estes Park Electric Inc is one of the electricians covering the town. It works as a service-area business with no storefront, so the first step is a call.

The valley crews are 7522 Electric LLC, Karst Electric Inc, Dean's Electric and Peterson Electric, which keeps an Estes Park contact point. 7522 Electric handles new construction and remodels, hot tubs and troubleshooting, and Peterson lists emergency calls. The listings for Karst and Dean's have little detail, so call and ask what they take on.
Most of the Front Range firms cover the jobs mountain houses tend to need. Panel upgrades, EV chargers, hot tub and spa wiring and standby generators come up again and again in the lists. 1st Choice Electrical Service in Longmont specializes in standby generators, with more than 200 installs, and includes Estes Park in its service area.
Ten of the 17 are flagged as licensed, and four as 24-hour emergency. Do not read that as the other seven being unlicensed. Ask for a license number before any work, and ask what the crew has wired in a mountain house, and ask whether the trip up is billed separately. For work inside a vacation rental, tell the electrician it is a rental, because access and timing can change the job.
7522 Electric in Estes Park lists hot tub wiring. Eggers Electric, AAA Electric and Peterson Electric also list hot tub or spa hookups, but they are based outside the valley. Ask about trip time and whether a permit is needed.
Yes. 7522 Electric lists EV charger installs, and so do several Front Range firms, among them Three Crowns Electric, Eggers Electric and Peterson Electric. Ask whether the installer has worked on mountain properties, and who handles any panel upgrade.
1st Choice Electrical Service in Longmont specializes in standby generators and lists Estes Park in its service area. Three Crowns Electric and Eggers Electric also list generator installation. Call for scheduling and ask about the drive up.
