About
From May through October, the beer at The Barrel pours from a container bar with sixty-four rotating taps, set in a Bavarian-style garden on Moraine Avenue a few doors from Full Throttle Distillery. When the weather turns, everything moves inside to a hall with twenty-five taps. Ingrid and Lou Bush opened it, and the list is the point: pilsners and lagers from the likes of Firestone Walker, Ninkasi and Wibby, plus ciders, a bourbon shelf and wine.
There's no kitchen. Food trucks park on site daily in summer and on winter weekends, and nobody minds if you carry in a pizza from elsewhere in town or bring a picnic. Dogs and kids are welcome all year, there's a pool table, trivia some nights and live music now and then. What it solves best is a group that can't agree on dinner.
