About

Moonshine is the reason to stop. Samples of the house whiskey, moonshine and other spirits are free, no reservation needed, and the tasting gets talked about more than anything on the plate. Bring ID; you have to be 21.

The kitchen is smokehouse: pulled pork, one-, two- and three-meat plates, brisket queso, Hillbilly Nachos, wings and a mac and cheese bowl, with crispy Brussels and a giant pretzel among the starters. Prices stay low and food comes out fast. There's a full bar, a kids' menu, an outdoor bar and a patio where dogs are welcome.

It's on Moraine Avenue a couple of blocks from Elkhorn, next to The Barrel and Annie's, an easy stop on the way to the Park. Local musicians play sets most weeks. Worth knowing: it's part of a small chain with distilleries in places like Branson and Sturgis, so think of it as a lively tasting room rather than a local still.
