About
Fountain pens, bottled ink and deckle-edged paper fill the shelves at Inkwell & Brew, next to Macdonald Book Shop on East Elkhorn. The stationery is what sticks, then the gifts: letterpressed cards, hand-painted cards, calligraphy pens and hand-hewn wooden ones. The Riverwalk runs right behind the building, which makes it an easy stop between errands downtown.
The other half is a coffee bar run on the slow side. Cappuccino, cortado, pour-over, and cold brew dripped at about a drop a second. The chai has its fans, and there's loose-leaf tea, a few baked goods and sandwiches. Breakfast is served, and nothing about the place hurries you out the door.
Upstairs seating and a stack of board games make it a place to stay a while, and it's quiet enough for a laptop. Dogs are fine on the patio. It opens at 7 every day, but in bad weather check the shop's social feed before walking over.
