Tuxedo Park Picnic Area

About

Tuxedo Park is a small picnic area inside Rocky Mountain National Park on Bear Lake Road, with tables beside a stream. It's easy to miss, and quiet compared to the big lots up the road.

Tuxedo Park is 2.8 miles from the Beaver Meadows Entrance on Bear Lake Road, on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park. There are eight picnic tables, two near the road and six by the stream. No toilets, and no fire grates, though portable grills are allowed. It's also a summer shuttle stop on the Moraine Park route. The tables sit below the parking area, down steep, uneven steps, so it isn't friendly to anyone with mobility trouble.

Bear Lake Road needs a Park Access+ timed-entry reservation in the busy season, so check nps.gov/romo before you drive in. Leashed dogs are allowed in picnic areas, though not on trails.

I like it for a sandwich by the water. Go midweek, bring your own trash bag, and don't count on a bathroom. Keep food put away, because the wildlife here is paying attention.
