About
An hour on foot, about a mile of walking, and a running account of the town's darker history: that is the standard tour from Estes Park Ghosts. Stops include the historic Park Theatre and the former owner said to still haunt it, the Stanley Hotel that inspired Stephen King's Overlook, and the pet cemetery on the Stanley grounds, kept for the staff's animals. An extended route adds more stops for anyone who wants to keep walking.
The storefront is at 106 East Elkhorn, next to Hayley's Ice Cream, but tours meet at the bridge over Fall River near the Silver Moon Inn on Spruce Drive, so know where you're headed. Tours run nightly, and an ID is all it takes to check in. The guide is what people talk about afterward, which is the point of a ghost tour. Haunted pub crawls, paranormal investigations and private group bookings are also offered. Bring a layer, since mountain evenings cool off fast.
