About

Lumpy Ridge granite, the alpine classics in the Park and a guided day on Longs Peak are the big-ticket trips here. But plenty of what this guide service does is smaller: a family's first afternoon on real rock, a beginner learning basics and technique, or a guided hike through Rocky Mountain National Park.

The instructors are what people talk about, especially how patient they are with nervous first-timers and kids, and how much gets learned in a single trip. Safety comes up often too, which is what you want from the person on the other end of the rope. Matt Lovas and Seth Hogan are the names behind it.

The base is out Big Thompson Avenue, about a mile from downtown, sharing an address with KMAC Guides. It includes a climbing gym and training facility plus gear rentals. That gym is the backup plan when weather shuts the routes down, and a decent place to get some mileage in before booking something bigger.
