Safeway Fuel Station
Ethanol-free gas is the quiet selling point at the Safeway pumps on Big Thompson Avenue, a short way from the Visitor Center. Anyone running a generator or a chainsaw knows why.
The 11 convenience and general stores listed here do different jobs: fuel stops with 24-hour pumps, dollar stores, a large gift shop and a few small markets. All 11 are based in the valley, and 8 are open Sundays. They sit around town and on the main roads, so a quick stop rarely means a long detour.
Stock the cooler before you head into the Park, fill the tank before the canyon, and keep a little cash on you. Some of the small shops still don't take cards, and that's part of the charm. Mostly.
Downtown
Ethanol-free gas is the quiet selling point at the Safeway pumps on Big Thompson Avenue, a short way from the Visitor Center. Anyone running a generator or a chainsaw knows why.

When the rental runs out of paper plates or someone forgot a phone cable, this is the cheap fix closest to downtown. The Dollar Tree sits in the Stanley Village shops on East Wonderview, next to Notchtop Bakery & Cafe and Peaks Hallmark, half a mile from the corner of Elkhorn and Moraine.

A couple of blocks from the Visitor Center on Big Thompson Avenue, Loaf 'N Jug is where plenty of RVs and trucks fuel up on the way into town. The pumps get mentioned more than anything else, along with propane refills and friendly counter staff.
Around the valley

The forgotten dish soap, a pack of paper plates, a phone charger: this is where those errands end up. The Stanley Avenue Dollar General, next to FedEx OnSite and a short walk from the fairgrounds, carries groceries, snacks, cleaning supplies, personal care, party goods, basic electronics and pet items at chain prices.

Seven thousand square feet of souvenirs, apparel, toys, stuffed animals, outdoor gear and home decor sit out Moraine Avenue, about a mile from the Park entrance. The size is the point.

Out Moraine Avenue toward Beaver Meadows, this Sinclair covers the practical stuff: gas, diesel and biodiesel, a car wash, propane exchange, air, water and an ATM. It opens early enough for a sunrise start into the Park.

Diesel, a propane tank exchange and an ATM put this Sinclair a notch above a plain fuel stop. It sits on Woodstock Drive, about a mile from downtown near the fairgrounds, a few doors from Quick Go and Estes Mini Mart, so the corner works as a small cluster of places to fill up.
Pizza is the thing people mention at this convenience store on Woodstock Drive, a couple of blocks from the fairgrounds and a mile out from downtown. It sits right beside Quick Go and close to the Sinclair station, so fuel, snacks and a hot slice are all within a short walk.
On South St. Vrain, next door to La Cocina De Mama and under a mile from downtown, this small food store is the kind of place for odds and ends.

Forget something on the way up and this is the nearest fix for anyone camped at the Estes Park KOA. The general store sits right at the campground on Big Thompson Avenue, a bit under two miles from downtown.
Out on Moraine Avenue, a little over a mile from downtown, On The Run is the convenience store attached to the Sinclair gas station. Fill the tank, grab what got forgotten, and keep going toward the Beaver Meadows entrance.
