Clean bathrooms are what campers remember first about this KOA on Big Thompson Avenue, which says plenty about how most campgrounds go. Cabins are the other big draw, deluxe cabins included, alongside tent sites and RV sites with water, electric and sewer hookups.
Sites come with a fire pit, and many have a concrete patio slab. Spaces are tight, though, so a big rig or a group that likes elbow room should know that going in. The train ride on the grounds is a favorite with families.
It sits at 7,500 feet, under two miles from downtown, with the KOA General Store next door. Pets are welcome, and tent campers and cabin families share the same grounds. Mountain views and the occasional wildlife sighting come with the site, and the Park is close enough for an early start. The Estes Park Mountain Shop is a short walk away for anything forgotten at home.
