S'mores at the gas fire pits are the nightly ritual here, with popcorn alongside, and it's the thing guests bring up first. The inn sits on Spruce Drive along the Fall River, a few minutes on foot from Bond Park and the Riverwalk, with a hot tub, a pool and a continental breakfast in the morning.

The room list runs long: riverside queens and kings, kitchenette rooms, a few with wood fireplaces, family rooms with two sleeping spaces, and two- and three-bedroom apartment suites. Ask for a riverside room if the creek is the point, since the pet-friendly rooms are on the non-river side. Park once and walk to dinner. Three or more rooms in summer counts as a group booking, with its own policies.
