Up East Wonderview Avenue, less than half a mile from downtown, the Stanley Hotel is as much a tour stop as a place to sleep. Plenty of people who never book a room still come through the front door.
The tours are the thing, and the guides are what people talk about afterward. The ghost tour is the famous one. Stephen King fans come to see Room 217 and walk the hedge maze, the place has served as a filming location, and the whiskey bar's selection has a following of its own.
Rooms are spread over four properties: the original hotel, The Lodge, Aspire with its spa, and residences up to four bedrooms plus a five-bedroom cottage, 220 in all. Stays at The Stanley, The Lodge or Aspire come with a nightly breakfast voucher, and some rooms face the mountains.
