Weddings drive a lot of what happens here. Black Canyon Inn runs two venues, The Boulders and The Homestead, on the same ground as its lodging, on MacGregor Avenue closer to the Stanley Hotel than to downtown.

The condos are the core of the lodging, each with a full kitchen, a gas fireplace and a balcony or deck facing Lumpy Ridge and the Twin Owls. The hotel-style suites add copper tubs on the lower level and two-sided fireplaces. Condos come in standard, deluxe and luxury tiers with one, two or three bedrooms, and the inn also handles group lodging, family reunions and corporate retreats.

Then there's Kathryn's Cabin, a one-bedroom log cabin from 1927 that was the first building on the property, with a handmade king bed, a jetted tub and two gas fireplaces. Wildlife wanders the grounds often enough that guests mention it. The inn offers a discount for booking direct.
