Rocky Mountain Pharmacy
Prescriptions come with a familiar face at Rocky Mountain Pharmacy, an independent store on East Wonderview that has been locally owned since 1993. Greg Barton owns it, and it's a short walk from the Stanley.
Prescriptions do not take a vacation when you do. A refill left at home, a sudden infection on day two, or a vaccine before a trip all happen in Estes Park too. Three listings cover pharmacy needs in the valley, and they are quite different, so it helps to know which one does what.
Transferring a prescription up from the Front Range is a phone call, not a project. Safeway says it accepts transfers. Rocky Mountain Pharmacy delivers. I would call one of them before the pill bottle runs low, not after.

Inside the Safeway on Wonderview, near the Starbucks, this is the obvious stop when a prescription runs out mid-trip. Transfers from a home pharmacy are routine here, and the counter staff get credit for being friendly.
Around the valley
Out on Redtail Hawk Drive, about two miles from downtown and next to SummitStone Health Partners, this is the Estes Park clinic of Salud Family Health, a federally qualified health center with 13 clinic locations. The network provides medical, dental, pharmacy and behavioral health care, but what this particular clinic offers isn't spelled out, so call before assuming.

Rocky Mountain Pharmacy has been owned and operated in Estes Park since 1993. It fills prescriptions, stocks diabetic supplies and durable medical equipment, and lists compounding, delivery and walk-in vaccines. Safeway Pharmacy sits inside the Safeway on Wonderview Avenue, near Big Thompson Avenue, and takes transfers from other pharmacies, handles pet prescriptions and offers vaccines, travel shots and health screenings.
Two of the 3 are marked open weekends, Rocky Mountain Pharmacy and Safeway Pharmacy, which is worth knowing because prescription needs do not keep office hours. Salud Family Health lists pharmacy among its services, but its Estes Park details are limited, so call before you count on it. Hours shift with the season, so call ahead.
Outside town limits, call before you make the drive, since delivery and hours matter more the farther up a canyon you live. In winter, a refill left for the last day is a gamble if a storm shuts the roads. Ask your pharmacy about refills a few days before you run out, and tell visitors the same: bring enough of any medicine for the whole trip.
Rocky Mountain Pharmacy and Safeway Pharmacy are both marked open weekends. The listings do not give weekend hours, and hours shift with the season, so call before you head over, especially for a prescription that needs to be filled the same day.
Rocky Mountain Pharmacy lists delivery, though the listing does not give the delivery area or timing. Ask both when you call, especially if you live outside town limits or up a canyon where the drive is long.
Safeway Pharmacy says it accepts transfers from other pharmacies and also handles pet prescriptions. Rocky Mountain Pharmacy fills prescriptions too. Call with the name of your old pharmacy and the prescription details, and ask how long the transfer usually takes.
Rocky Mountain Pharmacy lists walk-in vaccines, and Safeway Pharmacy lists vaccines, travel shots and health screenings. Neither listing says which vaccines are in stock, so call first and ask about the one you want.
