About

Look for the tall white tower on Moraine Avenue, right next to the River Walk Café and a short walk from Bond Park. Inside is an old movie house that still plays first-run films, mixed in with classics, seasonal favorites and the occasional free holiday showing. An unlimited movie membership and gift cards are sold as well.

The building is half the draw. The seats are original, there are cushions to make them friendlier, and the place feels run by people who are glad to see a full house. Staff lead history tours of the theater, and after dark the same rooms host haunted tours, late-night ghost hunts and psychic readings. There is food at the concession, too.

Live shows turn up too, from a Celtic rock band to a Rocky Horror shadow cast. It is wheelchair accessible and easy with kids. The theater closes for winter, so save the movie night for the warmer months.
